The Best Parties Involve Cake and Cranium!

It was one of my good friend's birthdays, so we organised a little party, including party hats, board games, a take away and cake! Also, I've just got a new camera and was eager to give it a try... I haven't quite got the hang of all the settings but I thought I'd give it a little go and share some of the photos from the evening with you all. We spent most of the night playing the brilliant new Cranium board game.

If you're into board games and you haven't played Cranium, then I suggest you go out, buy it and make an excuse to get some friends together and play it. I love how there are opportunities for everyone to get involved no matter what their forte is. I love the "Creative Cat" challenges, where I have to draw or make things out of dough for my team to guess. A snippet from the official product description:

"Sketch, sculpt, solve puzzles, act, and hum. Your hidden talent has hidden long enough. Instant fun. Just add people. You were born to play this game. Maybe you've always wanted to use your best friend as a puppet to act out "milking a cow." Or you want to prove you can draw "bed head" with your eyes closed. Perhaps you're eager to show off your vast knowledge of "The Hoff," YouTube, and which came first, the toaster or sliced bread. If any of these are true--and even if they're not--you need to play Cranium WOW immediately. You shouldn't wait to show off your hidden talents when they're so impressive."

The new Cranium has new little customisable character playing pieces with interchangable hats and hairdos!

Joanne made this amazing tasting, chocolatey, Julie Andrews inspired, birthday cake (for our Sound Of Music obsessed friend!)

As the evening progressed, I'm not entirely sure why, but we were fascinated by the collection of magnifying glasses that my friend had. I tested out my camera and we had a little bit of a giggle along the way...

Notting Hill Carnival - August 2010

I attended Notting Hill Carnival this weekend for the first time ever... I loved it! There were unbelievable amounts of people there, and the streets on the 3mile procession route were completely packed. There were some amazing costumes and the music and drums made me fight the urge (with little success) to dance in the street! I took total advantage of the yummy food that filled every street with the most glorious smells, there was jerk chicken, corn on the cob, goat curry and BBQ's on every corner. I chose the most amazing Brazilian Chicken curry with coconut and lime. Here are a few of my photos from the two day event...

Marylin Monroe by Eve Arnold

Time for a bit of a retrospective post I think, mostly because I want to be Marilyn Monroe when I grow up.

I am in love with Marilyn Monroe because of many things ranging from her curvy figure to her saccharine voice. The person who captured her best photos was Eve Arnold, she was able to catch the most intimate moments on film. Monroe felt relaxed with her and let her guard down, subsequently producing some of the most beautiful and inspiring pictures that make me love her that little bit more.

Just thought I'd share some of my favourite images from the pair's time together with you, my lovely readers. Also, a great big thank you to all my followers, the numbers have been rising quite rapidly and it really does make my day.

Summer

I have spent my day thus far wandering around our little market town in the sun with my best friend Matt, then we had the brilliant idea of getting a barbecue and fancy burgers. So we lay in the sun in my garden (the photo above is what i could see whilst lying) with nice drinks and yummy burgers, good times. I like summer. Lots. Apologies for the quality of the photos, my phone's not the best and neither are our faces, I don't think there's one nice photo of us ever. We're growing up though, it's scary.

On sunday, after a little celebration of my mother, me and Henry, who I haven't spoken to since primary school, are going to scout some locations for a photo shoot for my new uni project. We're going to have a little mess around with lighting and that, should be lots of fun!
