Travels across the Pond: Chicago and Lollapalooza

So, this is the first in a few installments of my holiday snaps, they aren't particularly beautiful, professional or attractive due to the fact I was too busy having fun to hone my mad photography skillz!

These images are from the first few days of our holiday in the lovely city of Chicago, we stepped out of the train straight on to the set of Transformers 3 which was being filmed on the street, as you do, but we headed straight to the hotel, met our friends and relaxed with a cheeky rum and coke; something I would become known for over the duration of the trip...

For those of you who don't know about Lollapalooza, it is a huge music festival which takes place in downtown Chicago, right next to Lake Michigan, and boasts some of the biggest names in music for example the rather delightful Lady Gaga (who you can see above), Arcade Fire, Phoenix, Chromeo, The Kissaway Trail and a myriad of my other favourites.

We also had a day of sightseeing in Chicago where we went up the tallest building there; The Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), went on a lovely boat trip, ate far too much yummy food, went to the Contemporary Art Museum, saw a lot of lovely things and, of course, had some rum and coke...

There will be more photos to come if you're interested, if not, come back in a couple of days and normal posting will continue!

The US of A

It just dawned on me that I'll be on in the US next week... I am incredibly unprepared, not even a thought has gone into packing and the tickets haven't even been printed off yet. The trip has been booked for months and months but seems to have crept up on me and pounced from behind.

Thankfully our friends who we'll be staying with are a little bit magnificent and have made us a great plan for the three weeks we'll be over there, including staying in a cabin in the woods (a la Evil Dead), going to see a baseball game and plenty of sightseeing, basically all the places that teenagers get killed in Slasher films, win.

We'll be enjoying Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, DEVO and like a million other awesome bands at Lollapalooza (aka the reason for us going) and staying with friends for another couple of weeks after that, I'm rather excited but very, VERY unprepared. If anyone is in the Chicago/Wisconsin area in August and has sightseeing tips, they would be very much appreciated!

The images above were taken by Paul Octavious at Montrose Harbor in Chicago!

Competition time: Lady Gaga sunglasses, eyelashes and make-up!

So it's competition time again! To thank all you lovely readers I thought I'd treat you to a cheeky giveaway. Apologies for the silly picture of me messing about, but how can you not have fun in them?! Plus, I wanted you to see what they look like on someone's face...

The prize includes an AMAZING pair of sunglasses, courtesy of Bitching and Junkfood, which are pretty much the same (except red) as the pair that Lady Gaga sports from time to time. I've made a little collage of images of the so called 'Mickey Mouse' glasses made famous by Gaga and Beyonce. Perfect for summer and festival fun I think you'll agree.

Because I love you guys so very much, I've also thrown in a few pairs of Revlon eyelashes (which are great by the way) and a Blink + Go eye shadow and blush compact so the prize is a present for your eyes really!

There are FOUR ways you can enter this competition and each person can enter four times by doing one or all of these things:

1. Follow me on Bloglovin'
2. Follow me on Google Connect - click the follow button on the right hand sidebar
3. Follow me on Twitter
4. Mention the giveaway on your Twitter, blog or facebook.

Please leave a SEPARATE comment to let me know which one (or two, or three etc...) of these you have done, make sure to include a link if you have mentioned it on twitter, your blog or facebook. If you don't comment you might miss out on winning because there is no way I'll remember who's tweeted in a weeks' time! Don't forget to leave me a way to contact you as well!

This competition is now CLOSED.

Raffaele Ascione

I first saw Raffaele Ascione's designs on Lady Gaga, who seems to be one of the best sources of amazing new designers at the moment, but since then I had only seen quite harsh and dare I say it 'edgy' images of 'The Mother's Instinct' collection until today.

These beautiful images are a far cry from all the craziness that comes with Lady Gaga, instead this dress feels incredibly feminine, ethereal and simple. I do rather want to take myself to a field in a big sheer dress and dance around...

Visit Raffaele Ascione's website for more info and to see more beautiful images.

In other news, I should be heading out to Singapore and Malaysia on Tuesday but things keep getting in the way, the British Airways strike doesn't affect our flight (yay!) but the ash cloud is back (boo...) so I may or may not be here next week. I don't think we're going to be able to go on holiday, sad...

Anyways, sorry for my ranting, hope you have a lovely Sunday!
