I did a little bit of an 'Ooooohhhh....' when I came across Dora Mojzes' work, it's a little bit on the stunning side. This collection was inspired by the 1940's woman and military at that time, the silhouette reflects the era by having a nipped in waist, broad shoulders and pencil skirts. This has all been modernised with Gareth Pugh-esque, pointed exaggerations at the shoulders and neckline.
The headpiece in the last image reminds me of a vintage hat that would have been worn to a funeral, a piece of net covers the mourning face, though in this picture she looks seductive rather than depressed.
There is a definite sexual vibe running through this collection, perhaps to signify the confidence of the women in the 1940's. I love the way it would be slightly terrifying to see a woman in the street wearing any of these pieces, again I guess it's the confidence coming through! You'd have to be very confident to wear these...
For a very young designer, she only graduated in 2008, she has produced a very accomplished collection and I'm looking forward to seeing much more of her work.
