So, if you've never heard of the wonderful Tatty Devine, you must be under a rock or in a country other than England. They are the makers of gorgeous jewellery favoured by celebrities and hipsters alike, they started on a market stall and this year is their 10th birthday! To celebrate this, the two brains behind Tatty Devine, Rosie (in green) and Harriet (in red), agreed to a little interview with me as well as some awesome prizes for you guys!
This is an epic post, but it's definitely worth reading the interview and entering the competition!

What made you want to start designing jewellery?
To start with it was more of a question of just wanting to MAKE! We both went to Art school and when we left we were both really keen to make stuff and try and sell it, in a way we thought it would subsidise us making paintings. The jewellery came about because Harriet found lots of leather sample books which we decided to cut up into leather cuffs. One thing led to another and we started concentrating on jewellery.
Who would you most like to see wearing a piece of your jewellery?
Powerful stylish ladies like Vivienne Westwood, Mary Portas, Beth Ditto or perhaps Cleopatra if she were around today.
What is it like to see Tatty Devine as a fully fledged brand after starting out on
a market stall?
It's quite mind blowing really. It feels a huge achievement to have made a mini universe from nothing and specifically from absolutely no money. A brand is like a living breathing thing that needs feeding and amusing and isn't something that we really contemplated creating ten years ago.
If you could only wear one designers' clothes for the rest of your life, who
would it be?
Vivienne Westwood
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Harriet wanted to be a page 3 model and I wanted to be an opera singer which is a bit silly considering that Harriet is flat chested and I can't sing!
Do you think it's better to work in a duo?
Absolutely, as it is impossible to do everything on your own. You would need a dichotomy of a brain! we find it really useful having 2 of us as often when you are making decisions it's really important that there is a dialogue involved.
You have collaborated countless times in the past, do you feel this is important
for a brand to develop?
It's really fun working with other people, it's a really interesting process and means we make things we might not have otherwise made. It is also a great way to reach out to new audiences. Also so many of our friends are creatives, but in different disciplines that it's a way of sharing what we all do.
Everyone who works at Tatty Devine is female, why is this?
We have had a few boys/men work at Tatty but they never seem to stay very long. I think it is a reflection on the type of person who wears and likes Tatty Devine- they tend to be female.
Do you think the internet is the way forward for the fashion industry?
The internet has obviously made huge changes to the fashion industry and I think it is the way forward ( I don't think there is much choice!) When we started the internet was just starting out too, and we operated in quite old school ways, but we and everyone has had to adjust and grow with the internet. It is such an amazing tool and has really changed the way the industry operates.
Do you think Tatty Devine would be different if it started today rather than 10
years ago?
I think it would be completely different and I have no idea what would have become of us. We were protected by a cloak of naivety, a DIY aesthetic (we couldn't even use Photoshop so used to take photos, develop them, cut them out and stick them on white paper and photocopy!) and it felt like there were very few people around to compete with. Without the internet, London was our world wide web and it felt slightly easier to conquer.
What kind of cake did you have for your birthday?
A multi-layered extravaganza that Harriet made with all my favourite fillings- butter icing, almond sponge, chocolate, toffee- it goes on and on! Yum.
