Nicola Morgan, flat pack fashion
I literally cannot remember what it was like before internet, mine has been down for about 4 days now (Thanks a lot BT...) and I have been going crazy! I will reply to all your comments today, I promise, sorry for the delay!
Anyway, mini rant over. This wonderful work you see above was designed by Nicola Morgan, who recently graduated from Northumbria University. I remember seeing her collection at Graduate Fashion Week last year and being enthralled by the links and connections within all of the pieces. Nicola's work is laser cut and then slotted together, similar to flat pack furniture, meaning that there is no need for machine sewing. I think it's a great concept and works brilliantly, producing an amazing collection from a technique rarely seen within the fashion indsutry. She calls it 'fashion lego', very apt I think you'll agree.
From this collection, she won the 'Innovation Award' at Graduate Fashion Week, a very well deserved award!
I'd love to see more innovative ways of producing collections which, like Nicola's, don't compromise on aesthetics. For more info and images, visit her website.
What do you think lovely readers? Hello to all my new followers, do come and introduce yourselves!
